Description :
Skinny (My friend Skinny) was born in the summer of 2002 when my 4 year old nephew introduced me to Skinny. He was 18 and in grade 3, tall as a pine tree, wild and free.
The one challenge you have when you are 4 years old, especially if you have a bigger brother and sister, is that you know that you are going to grow up. And that could mean losing touch with a friend like Skinny. All of us want a little “Skinny” after watching the nightly news.
One day my entire family went for lunch at the Elk Horn Ranch- a country club nestled in the heart of a national park. Then it happened. The waitress asked: “Will Skinny be joining you?” My nephew gasped because even he was beginning to question the existence of Skinny. But she was a friend of Skinny! Needless to say, the waitress was awarded a big fat tip.
That summer night, sitting outside with the family, I started strumming a few chords on my first guitar- a hand-me-down guitar, (which incidently, was given to me as a birthday present from Neil- who I invited to play lead on the song). Within 15 minutes, the song was written. Not bad for someone who played in the “B” band, 3rd part, last chair.
So come and experience the magic that "My Friend Skinny" can bring. Visit the official website and download the song. Happy and Fun. Light and a lot silly. It is not exactly Handel, but I hope it brings out a little Skinny in all of us.
