Description :
This new CD of 14 original lullabies and children’s songs using traditional instruments including: a string quartet, grand piano, great harp, oboe, acoustic guitar and many others, focuses on the emotional desire for a safer, more loving, reassuring world for children everywhere. Sleepy Old Town appeals to children and their parents. To paraphrase Mark Twain’s preface to Tom Sawyer: ‘Although these songs are intended mainly for boys and girls, we hope they will not be shunned by men and women on that account, for part of our plan has been to try pleasantly to remind adults of what they once were themselves, and of how they felt and thought and talked.’ This describes perfectly what it is about the best lullabies, the best children’s songs and the best children’s stories that make them relevant and popular throughout successive generations.
All the songs on this CD were written and performed by Steve Stapley and Lynda Hayes, who are married with two children.
