Description :
Gene Allen is a regular at schools, festivals and theaters throughout Western Pennsylvania. With a variety of stringed instruments and a handful of harmonicas, Gene creates an interactive atmosphere with his audience while performing original material along with songs from such American folk icons as Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, and more. Whether the song is about a major historical event, a tender-hearted memory about an old railroad bridge, or a silly little ditty about the pets playing in his yard, Gene Allen lives and loves to involve his audiences in the show.
Using music, story telling, puppetry, magic, humor and plenty of audience involvement, Gene has a very special reading program for libraries and bookstores. Gene's most popular elementary school assemblies are: "I Love To Read", "Drug Free - That's Me", and "American Folk Music".
As a full-time musician, when Gene Allen isn't performing, he teaches music, and often does recording studio session work on guitar, bass, mandolin or banjo.
Here's what people say about Gene Allen: "You have a good list of songs for all kinds of people. And it's good that you do the kids songs. There aren't enough good shows for the kids." - Pete Seeger
"Bless you for keeping traditional acoustic music alive." - Tom T. Hall
"[Gene] Allen's real talent and devotion to his music are displayed when he performs a song written by a five-year-old Russian child in his native language. His family-oriented show surely wins people over." - Jason Varnish, The PENN
"Gene Allen has the warmest personality along with a pleasant smile to communicate to his audience and hold their attention." - Larry Dunn, Brady's Run Maple Syrup Festival
