CAReTUNES are more than sing-along songs. They are intended for fun, interactive applications to support early learning and development. Early childhood educators can employ CAReTUNES to address various components of early learning standards and curriculum goals. Creative, interactive teachers will find that CAReTUNES provide early learning experiences in Social, Art, Physical Health and Development, Language and Literacy, and Mathematics domains.
CAReTUNES support the daily routine. Predictable, consistent routines provide a sense of security, reduce stress, and foster a quality learning environment. CAReTUNES are sequenced to compliment the typical daily routine. There are songs for circle time activities and discussion, transitions, clean up time, lunch, and quiet/rest time.
CAReTUNES offer a consistent, positive, auditory cue for children; even when the 'regular' teacher is away. CAReTUNES were written to educate young children in fun, positive ways. We envision the majority of these developmentally appropriate songs being transformed into a series of illustrated children’s books that could be used with the CAReTUNES CD or to stand alone.
CAReTUNES are written in the first person, because that is how young children think. The goal is that through time and repetition young children will internalize the positive concepts espoused in the lyrics; in particular social and self-help skills. Care has been taken to ensure these concepts are universal and not an affront to any child's culture or ethnicity. The songs incorporate various rhythms to introduce children to musical genres.
